Ottawa ComicCon Day #1
Today Jenn and I attended Ottawa ComicCon which was totally awesome and had a lot to experience!
Having been to Fan Expo in Toronto a couple of years ago, Jenn and I were expecting the worst when it came to lining up and building capacity.
We were scarred but with Ottawa ComicCon we were pleasantly surprised. The line was wrapped around the building and zig zagged in behind the building. We still managed to get into the building in 45 minutes and only had to wait about 10 minutes to get a fair priced lemonade!
There was plenty of merchandise out for sale, and lots of very friendly vendors. The one t-shirt I wanted to buy had sold out in my size long before we even got into the venue.
All and all it was a great experience, and we may go back tomorrow for another visit. The people were great, there were some awesome costumes, and there weren’t any crazy fights or anything.
Well done to the organizers of the Ottawa ComicCon!
Jenn and I also decided to each adopt a dragon! The egg I adopted is posted on my Google+ page if you’d like to see it!
Fantastic Convention that will only get better with each passing year!
Server Upgrades
Thanks to the great and powerful folks at Buffalo VPS, my server has been upgraded to handle all of the traffic you folks have been hurling at it for the past month.
That being said I am super stoked to have to upgrade my server for a couple of reasons.
1.) Too much traffic for it to sustain proper operation.
2.) When I go back to school, I will be using this as my test server.
I’m really getting excited for school, because I will be learning something that I will use in my every day life. Both in business, and in helping friends cope with whatever issue it is that they want to solve using a web application.
I truly believe that the Internet is the future of the world and is only going to continue to get bigger and bigger as time goes on!
In business news, my electronic cigarette business is doing quite well and I am really enjoying meeting all of the vapers here in Ottawa and across Canada.
My wife, my friends, and my family have all been very supportive of this new business venture. This makes for a fantastic experience!
Some days require long hours of negotiating pricing, and keeping everything flowing smoothly.
I would like to personally thank my friend Nikka and her hubby Jeff for everything they continue to do to spread word about my business and what I do! She’s been awesome, and so have all of my customers!
I look forward to serving you all more and more as this business continues to grow and evolve.
Thanks everyone!
School is Quickly Approaching
As proud as I am of the work I’ve done as a web developer for several different companies, I always knew I was lacking certain skills that would be critical to my success as a developer. This is the reason I decided that going back to school would be a good idea.
I’ve registered, I’ve been accepted, and my start date is fast approaching. I am really looking forward to going back to school and learning everything I’ll need for a successful future.
As stressful as it will be to have little or no money at all during this time, I will make the best of it and graduate!
That being said I’m also very nervous to get started, as I have not been in a class room in almost 10 years now.
I know that school is what I need though, and I will give it my all!
Really looking forward to it!
Business is Good!
Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for being so supportive of this new business venture I have embarked on.
It’s been a real thrill being able to learn about this market as well as to be able to educate people about these products and services.
I stepped on a couple of toes, I’ve burned a couple of bridges, but in the end, it’s all for my customers and I hope each ans every one of them knows this!
Thank you for your continued support and for all of the warm messages you’ve all been sending me!
If there’s anything more I can do or supply, simply tell me and I will make it happen!
I Apologize
Below is a letter I wrote to Shadi this morning to try and clear the air with he and I.
I wish him no ill will, and I know he is a good guy at heart. He is human much like all of us and sometimes he makes mistakes, but that gives me no right or reason to call him out or defame him for it.
Shadi and I were and are friends, and in the end he did what was best for his business by moving his web site.
Hi Shadi,
Because I once considered you a friend and would like to continue to be able to consider you as such, please accept my apologies.I wrote an angry spiteful post about both your character and your business, but I never once mentioned your products other than to say that I carried them. All that being said, I should never have written what I wrote and instead should have written a post when I was more calm and collected.I do apologize for any wrong doing this may have caused your business as a result. In the future actions like this will not be taken in any case, and in the interest of a solid business relationship I would like to retract anything written that was either defamatory or insulting. With your permission I will also post this email to my iBurg.ca web site.I await your reply.
